The Abilisk was a multi-dimensional tentacled monster who was devouring the power sources of the Sovereign planet. The Sovereign hired the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight it.
Biography
Attacking Sovereign
The Abilisk appeared on the planet Sovereign, drawn by their Anulax Batteries and began feeding on them. The Sovereign, believing that it was beneath them to fight the Abilisk themselves, hired the Guardians of the Galaxy to kill it for them.[1]
Battle on Sovereign
The Abilisk swallows Drax the Destroyer
The Guardians fix a trap for the Abilisk. When the Abilisk returned to feed on the batteries, the Guardians attacked it, with a large battle taking identify. It saw one of the Guardians running towards information technology and merely swallowed him. With two other Guardians cartoon its attention, the Abilisk looked upward, snapping at them. To its surprise, however, Gamora drew her sword and collection it into its injury, cutting the creature open up. The Abilisk collapsed, with it dying soon after from "blood" loss.[1]
Powers
Superhuman Forcefulness: The Abilisk'due south tentacles possessed the strength to lift, drag, throw, and crush objects the size of Kylosians effortlessly.
Superhuman Immovability: The Abilisk'due south pare was durable enough to withstand multiple blasts from Rocket Raccoon's many guns and Star-Lord's Quad Blasters. It was so strong that Drax the Destroyer was not able to pierce the skin later on many slices of his knives. It was only killed when Gamora attacked a pre-existing cutting on its neck.
Superhuman Stamina: The Abilisk fought the Guardians of the Galaxy for a great catamenia of time without showing whatever signs of fatigue.

The Abilisk travels between dimensions
The Abilisk could travel betwixt dimensions making information technology a major target of the Sovereign who hired the Guardians of the Galaxy to impale information technology earlier it stole any other Anulax Batteries.
Breakthrough Blast: The Abilisk was able to shoot rainbow blasts of quantum splatter out of its mouth during the Boxing on Sovereign. This caused a major threat against the Guardians of the Milky way.

While the Abilisk is an original character of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the comics the Guardians of the Galaxy's outset mission was to prevent a like inter-dimensional beast to breach into the universe through a fissure in the space-fourth dimension continuum.
James Gunn described the Abilisk equally like to "a pink-naked mouse" or "the inside of an old man's ear".
Behind the Scenes
The visual furnishings and mode of the Abilisk's Thing Waves were inspired by Gunn'south collaboration with Suda51 on the video-game Lollipop Chainsaw.
